The MSL is to provide medical and scientific support for the Chiesi Nordic Rare Diseases business, to provide high quality, accurate and timely scientific advice to healthcare professionals on the company´s products and associated disease area(s). The MSL shall identify, develop and maintain credible relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), Academic Centres and Patient Advocacy Groups (PAGs). The MSL shall understand the patient journey (including diagnostic pathway) and identify gaps and solutions for an optimal patient journey. The scope of the role involves two disease areas and all countries in the Nordic region. The role involves close cross-functional collaboration with marketing, market access and Global Rare Diseseases (GRD) Medical Affairs.

Areas of responsibility

  • A field-based medical role with the responsibility and accountability to provide high quality, accurate and timely medical advice, on request, to healthcare professionals (HCPs) regarding the company's products and its associated disease area.

  • Through scientific expertise and interactions with HCP's, provide medical insight into the medical, marketing and market access strategies for the therapeutic areas for Chiesi Global Rare Disease products.

  • Partner with Marketing and Value & Access in the development and execution of the Brand plans and commercial activities

  • Map the patient journeys including diagnostic pathways, identify gaps and promote solutions to optimize the patient journey.

  • Support Marketing- and Market Access teams with regards to patient access processes, presentation of scientific data if requested, answering of queries relating to scientific data and clinical development plans and support ad-hoc projects like audits, guidelines development and medical education seminars.

  • Review and approval of medical/marketing materials as required according to the local regulations.

  • Plan and execute Advisory Boards and other scientific engagements.

  • Medical enquires – maintain the Medical Enquiry process, including recognizes, receive, and track Medical Enquires, respond to off label Medical Enquires, forward all medical enquires to local assigned PV contact.

  • Product Quality Complaints – receive and forward product quality complaints to the compliant manager.

  • Supports the shared value culture within Chiesi and works actively towards a social and environmental responsible footprint of the company; takes initiatives and suggest new ways of business in accordance with B Corp guidelines; accountable to deliver part of the company’s Sustainability Plan that is assigned to the role and/or support company’s mass initiatives on sustainability.

Skills and competences

  • Medical degree, pharmacy degree, or higher science degree

  • Good working knowledge of the clinical trial process, including the regulations

  • Good understanding of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and Good Pharmacovigilance Practice

  • Proven relationship building skills with key opinion leaders

  • Understanding of the wider Healthcare environment and key opportunities for pharma and the NHS to partner effectively within the scope of Industry code of conduct

  • Preferably experience in similar roles in the pharmaceutical industry

  • Preferably experience in rare diseases

  • Ability to work effectively both independently as well as part of a team, as the situation demands

  • Ability to interpret and present complex clinical data in a clear manner to a variety of audiences

  • Strong Medical Affairs skills (study design, management and conduct of studies, study evaluation, medical writing skills, expert panel conduct, symposium and workshop management, KOL management etc)

  • Strong external stakeholder engagement skills

  • Ability to recognise links between clinical development and commercial opportunities

  • Fluent in spoken and written English, in addition to one of the Scandinavian languages

  • Ability to travel, especially within Nordic countries

 

Other information

You will report to ‘Medical Manager Rare Diseases Nordics’ within the Medical Team. The position is a field based position and it is an advantage to live near the Stockholm office.
